Science in SWL :)

In class today for science we planted some kowhai seeds in little cups. We put them in some brown cups to grow here is how we did it.

First, we put 50mm of water in with our soil packs and then waited for it to get bigger and drink all the water after it had to take the wrapping off the soil. The next we had to rub the seeds onto a piece of sandpaper so that the seed can drink water after it is planted. Then we put our seed in a 1 cm hole in our soil ( we didn't put all the soil in just yet ) Then we put the rest of the soil over the top of the seed and then put the brown cup into a plastic cup because when we water the in the brown cup the water will come out of the bottom so that the seed can drink the leftover water when it needs to. This is someone's plant in there cup:
Some tips would be things take time oh and help whenever u can xxx

  1. Hi Keira, my name is Jamie and I am a year eight student at Paihia School. I really like your post about your science experiment. It is a very interesting process to make a plant. It seems like a very easy process to follow, I think that anyone will be able to do it. The way you wrote it made it easy to understand. Do you know why you used brown cups? Could you use any other colour cup?
