My Favorite part of camp

Hello My name is Keira (for the ones who have never been here) 😁😁

A few weeks ago i went to camp. In this recount I am going to tell you about my favorite part of camp. Enjoy :)

On Tuesday it was raining but the teachers found a way to make it fun because we couldn't go on the hike that we were meant to go on.💧 So we split up into three groups and one group went into the rec hall to play some sports (I couldn't to this activity because I had rolled my ankle playing dodge ball the night before) 😞 . The second group went into the games room with a pool table and a few other games the last group also known as my group went into the dining hall to play board games and just chill by the fire. 🔥

Each activity lasted around 1 hour and we had to go into the games room while the group that was in the rec hall walked up to the dining hall to play games. We spent about a hour in the games room before we had to move to the rec hall but because I rolled my ankle so I just stayed in the games room.

After Lunch we got to have some free time so I played a game of phase 10 with a few teachers and friends. I had a great day although we couldn't go on the hike. Thank you for reading this recount I hope you have a mean day ( great day)💜💜

 How is Cheese made?

There are 6 important stages of making cheese.

Acidification

The first stage of making cheese is Acidification. During this stage, a starter culture is added to the milk so the milk sugar will change into Lactic acid. This changes the acidity level of the milk and begins the process of turning milk from a liquid into a solid.

Coagulation

The Second stage of making cheese is Coagulation. Coagulation is the process of transforming the liquid into a semisolid. When making cheese, an enzyme called rennet is added either as a liquid or a paste to further encourage the milk to solidify.

Curds and Whey

The third stage of making cheese is Curds and Whey. As the milk solidifies, it forms curds and whey. The curds are the solid part and whey is the liquid. In this step, the curds are cut using a knife or a tool that resembles a rake. When this process is done the whey is drained away, leaving the curd alone to become cheese.

Salting

The forth stage of making cheese is salting. Salt is added for flavor. It also acts as a preservative so the cheese does not spoil during the months or years it spends aging and it helps to form a natural rind on the cheese. Salt can be added directly into the curd as the cheese is being made.

Shaping

The fifth stage of making cheese is shaping. In this stage each type of cheese takes a familiar form as a solid block or a wheel. The cheese is put in a basket or a mold to form it into a specific shape. At the same time, the cheese is also pressed with weights or a machine to expel any remaining liquid.

Ripening

The sixth and final stage is ripening. Referring to as affinage, this process ages cheese until it reaches optimal ripeness. During this time, the temperature and humidity of the cave or room where the cheese ages are closely monitored.

Science in SWL :)

In class today for science we planted some kowhai seeds in little cups. We put them in some brown cups to grow here is how we did it.

First, we put 50mm of water in with our soil packs and then waited for it to get bigger and drink all the water after it had to take the wrapping off the soil. The next we had to rub the seeds onto a piece of sandpaper so that the seed can drink water after it is planted. Then we put our seed in a 1 cm hole in our soil ( we didn't put all the soil in just yet ) Then we put the rest of the soil over the top of the seed and then put the brown cup into a plastic cup because when we water the in the brown cup the water will come out of the bottom so that the seed can drink the leftover water when it needs to. This is someone's plant in there cup:
